The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced turning to custom matches set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Assignments
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the only way of getting twelve from the forty-one main guns available in the game.
Several of these locked weapons could shortly earn a place on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry across Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it has significantly fewer advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
One more community participant pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game currently, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
But when doing the challenges in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the next few updates, because if they're not, certain gamers simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
