Several individuals have been detained after images of former President Donald Trump and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein appeared onto Windsor Castle on Tuesday, coinciding with the president’s visit in the UK.
Police Action and Detentions
Thames Valley Police stated that the suspects were arrested on suspicion of "public order offenses" after what they referred to as a "unauthorized display." The detainees comprised an individual in his sixties from Sussex, two London residents aged 36 and 50, and a Kent man aged 37.
Police noted that officers acted quickly to stop the projection on the castle, where the president is scheduled to meet King Charles during his state visit.
Context of the Event
The former president was associated with Epstein during the 1990s and early 2000s. So far, he has never been charged with any wrongdoing related to the late financier.
This trip comes just days after the UK's top diplomat in Washington was dismissed over his links with Epstein.
Early on Wednesday, a van was spotted in Windsor showing an picture of the two figures along with the text: "Hello Donald, welcome to Britain."
Police Presence and Protest Arrangements
A significant police operation has been deployed throughout the area, with over 1,600 officers assigned to oversee activities in the capital amid planned protests by protest organizers.
At the same time, Trump and First Lady Melania are set to take part in a meal with members of the Royal Family, pay respects the resting place of Queen Elizabeth II, and give a speech at a state banquet.
Demonstrators assembled in Windsor ahead of the arrival, highlighting the controversial aspect of the state visit.
