Wizard of Legend 2, a procedurally-generated adventure centered on sorcerers attempting to achieve status as mythical figures, is coming to the Switch later this month. Gamers can get accessible November 25, providing fans of shared-screen titles a fresh shot to explore among 2025's top-tier additions in the genre.
A Rocky Start
Wizard of Legend 2 adopted the roadmap of several lesser-known games. The development team launched it in early access in late 2024 on Windows PC, prior to releasing it in full, in conjunction with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X editions, in the summer of 2025. At launch, it faced heavy criticism. Only less than a third of its user reviews were complimentary. The Steam reviews were "varied", drawing from almost two thousand reviews, with a lot of users highlighting the general lack of polish and litany of bugs initially. Those on consoles further lambasted that the multiplayer component, a key feature for the game, largely didn't work.
Steady Enhancements
But similar to numerous early access releases that launch in unpolished conditions, Wizard of Legend II has improved. Over the past few months, its developers have deployed multiple updates aimed to address these concerns. Having played The Wizard of Legend Sequel to a greater extent than every other recent title recently, I can confidently say it performs better relative to at launch (on console, at least). It's hit the stage where the vast majority of attempts, players can reliably initiate a multiplayer game to function. Quite an improvement!
If It Works, This Game Excels
And once The Wizard of Legend Sequel works, it truly delivers. From an isometric perspective, you fight through element-based dungeons by casting spells in action-oriented mechanics. Lots of rushing, plenty of dodging, plenty of managing cooldowns. It's incredibly rapid and endlessly creative; by combining your magical attacks together with an ally's, you can unleash some devastating combinations.
Nintendo Switch Version Details
Although the Switch version hasn't been comprehensively reviewed, it's important to remember the notoriously rigorous approval process for Switch games. Its creators mentioned via an announcement that this edition of The Wizard of Legend Sequel includes each improvement that were implemented in the current year.
